The Five Meanings of the Word, Israel

1. The patriarch Jacob (Gen 32:28; 35:10)

Gen 35:10  And God said unto him, Thy name is Jacob: thy name shall not be called any more Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name: and he called his name Israel.  Continue reading

Nailed to the Cross

Nailed

It is not my purpose in this post to teach that we must obey the law for salvation. This post is not about obedience to the law in order to be saved. Obeying the law will not save us. Only faith in Jesus Christ by the grace of God will save us. Continue reading

I Suffer Not a Woman

1Ti 2:12  But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

This is a completely new rework of a study published at the old website. In First Timothy, Paul is giving Timothy instructions about guiding the church at Ephesus to observe proper doctrine. Here is the same verse in interlinear format:

The Good Person Test

Are you a good person? Most people feel like they are good people. The real question is are you good enough to go to Heaven? How do we know if we are good enough to go to Heaven? Take the test to discover the truth.

Note from Brother Mark: I did not create this test to condemn anyone. It is not my desire, nor is it my place to condemn people. The Bible says that we are all already condemned because of our sin. The purpose of this test is to show anyone who takes the test that by God’s standards, he or she is a sinner. I, as well, am a sinner.

The Relationship Between Israel and the Church

The Relationship Between Israel and the Church is a four part study based upon Paul’s discussion of his brethren, the Jews in Romans chapters 9-11. He was born a Jew, educated in Jewish law under Gamaliel, and was a Pharisee (Acts 22:3, Php 3:5). He was saved by Jesus Christ on the road to Damascus (Acts 9:3-8), and the Lord appointed him the Apostle to the Gentiles (Rom 11:13, 1 Tim 2:7, 2 Tim 1:11).  He wished that all of his Jewish brethren would be saved by the blood of Christ. The study is in four parts; click a link below:

Antioch of Syria

(Acts 11:19-30)

Antioch in Syria (modern Antakya) was the third greatest city in the Roman Empire and its influence was felt far and wide. Only Alexandria and Rome were greater. In the United States, the three largest cities are New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago. Antioch, then, was like Chicago. Just as Chicago has a great impact on our country, so Antioch had on the Roman Empire. Continue reading
